Summary: No user tools for switching kernel governors for CPU.
           Product: kde
           Version: 4.6
          Platform: Mageia RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: schlecht at mail.ru

Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.3)
OS: Linux

In KDE 4.4 it was easily possible to switch the governors (ondemand, powersave,
etc) by checking corresponding options in the KDE Powersave Settings. In 4.5
one had to write in KDE Powersave Settings a short command to do it via Solid
framework in order to do the same thing. Now, in 4.6, it is necessary to write
a separate script for each governor (using sudo or/and granting root privileges
to certain files). Since it is an obvious regression in useful (mostly for
laptops) features, I'd like to get it back.
Moreover, there are only 3 possible profiles are left. For example,
"Presentation" was removed, though it served very well exactly for
presentations.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Goto KDE Powersave Settings - Power Profiles.

Actual Results:
One needs to write a script (one line in the box is not enough, since many
people have dual- or multiple-core CPUs, so one has to address each core
separately).

Expected Results:
Return to 4.4-like or create a similarly functioning subsystem.
