Making the [bleep] toolbar taller than the default makes the K-menu, activiy,
dolphin, and browser icons magically appear.

Making it short, turns them into hash.

So apparently it's a problem of having scalable icons or something?

The cruft around the clock and the Desktop and the
Favorites/Applications/Computer/Recent/Leave images are still trash.

I spent a whole lot of time mucking with drivers trying to fix what looks more
and more like a KDE desktop issue, to this naive user...

So now it's somewhat more usable, if a one-inch taskbar is acceptable...

Not really, but a "work-around" at least.
