Update - had a Fedora 16 package update this morning and now DigiKam is working
again (as is Google Chrome which had a similar issue).   Still using the same
NVidia driver (290) under which DigiKam was crashing.   Kernel updated to
3.1.5-1.fc16.i686.PAE.   No other packages look relevant, though I can post
that if needed.
