Summary: KDE printing settings is broken
           Product: kde
           Version: 4.7
          Platform: Archlinux Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: vo.zaeb at gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.3)
OS: Linux

The problems begins to start if you need to print something more complicated
than just simple text or a pdf document. When using Gwenview it is not possible
to automatically rotate the image, it always print it with white stripes on the
sides or even cuts the picture if it is not match the page orientation, "fit
image to page size" option is not works properly too, and more and more.

Print range options are not allow to specify the pages numbers user need to
print, it only allow to set up the range.

The duplex printing options are not applied at all, the same with the color
mode.

In printer properties you can notice margins, it's the most annoying options
here — they don't remember my choice and appears every time I need to print
something.

Also, _the_most_weird_thing_: if you will open tab advanced and will change the
driver options you changes will be saved to the system and will be applied to
all the other jobs! This is absolutely curious. These driver settings changes
should be applied ONLY for this app and in any case they shouldn't be saved
globally, because user could have other print jobs from other apps... Libre
Office does exactly what I talking about — it allow us to change the driver
settings too, but it doesn't save them globally to the system and this is
correct behavior.

For example: currently duplex printing options doesn't take any effects, so I
can enable the double side printing only using the button configure and set up
the driver options, but these changes will be saved globally and also will be
applied for all the other jobs I have in queue.

So, in KDE I'm only able to review my files, printing is absolutely unusable
and only broke inks and papers. DigiKam has more or less appropriate printing
master, but it is accessible only for images collection.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just try to print something. The easiest way: try to print the photo on the 4x6
photo paper. Especially if photo will be landscape orientation. Also try to
change you driver settings and see what will happen with your other jobs, added
from another apps.

Expected Results:
By and large, user should not use button "properties" to customize it's printer
driver settings directly. The printer was configured once, globally, in driver
settings (but not from the app) and this should be quite enough. Any app should
not change these default settings globally.

All the settings changes, that may be needed before printing, user should be
able to perform through the KDE printing dialog and they should NOT be saved
globally, but just for this application session (or using application settings
to save these printing settings for this application)
