If the X server crashes, please report this bug to
https://bugzilla.freedesktop.org/

If this is reproducible, you could start the X server via gdb to get a
backtrace of the crash. Additionally, /var/log/Xorg.0.log(.old) might contain
information about what happened right before the crash.
