Still happens with 4.6.2. Easy way to reproduce: boot the system (I use
autologin) and when the desktop has finished loading, press the power button.
The system terminals still works but KDE hangs for about two minutes. No
applications can be started but the icons still highlight when you hover over
them.

This bug does not happen after a session where some KDE applications have been
started and used. So it may be related to KSMServerInterface as Michal
described.
