It isn't really clear from the bug report if you have KPilot installed or not.

As I understand the bug report, you are just plugging the device, hit a button
on it, and it gets corrupted, possibly by some HAL or udev daemon. If that's
the case, the bug report is unrelated to KDE and you should clarify that in the
upstream bug report.

If you have an old version of KPilot installed, and the corruption only occurs
after KPilot is running, then it probably is a KPilot problem, but the KPilot
developers don't recommend running it. In other words, remove it and look for a
replacement.
