Well, I was struggling a bit with the need for such manual switch model/layout
and I guess your comment about "I edit keyboards so heavily..." explains it but
I don't think too many users are in this "heavy keyboard editing" so I am not
sure adding this complication to the configuration UI (which already gets
pretty heavy) is worth it.

I'd suggest to use global shortcuts configuration and just have something like
"setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us" command on one and "setxkmap -model
logitech -layout pl" on another.

Keyboard indicator (especially in coming 4.5) should be able to display current
layout property in this case so this functionality won't be lost.
