I always have a defunct kded4 process since some time around the 4.3 to 4.4
transition.
I have the Kubuntu 10.4 packages with 4.4.3 from their PPA.

Amongst other things, this breaks the ACPI power button script Ubuntu uses,
causing power off regardless of what KDE has configured.
