Yes, sorry, "main menu" is a bit vague, and unfortunately, I don't know how to
get a screenshot since the menu disappears when I click to start the screen
shot (I guess if I knew accelerator keys better it would be easy).

I am referring to the K Menu that pops up when you click on the gear containing
a K in the lower left corner of the window on the task bar. This is what I
call the "main menu" or some others call it the "Start" menu. In KDE 3.5, it
pops up and as the mouse hovers over items and they are submenus, the submenu
opens. In KDE 4.+, you must explicitly click to get submenus.
For example, it Contains on the bottom of the menu Favorates, Applications,
Computer, Recently Used, and Leave (at least on Kubuntu). I must then click on
one of those icons (no problem). Once the correct menu has popped up behind
it, if it has a submenu, there is an arrow on the right side of the menu. I
must then click that arrow to see the submenu. Once in the submenu say for
(Applications -> Office), I can click on an item, but if I want to go back, I
must click on the left arrow bar that appears on the left of the submenu.

What I want is a mode that is somewhat more like the old 3.5 menu system that
allows me to switch submenus by putting the cursor over the left or right arrow
(possibly an arrow bar) without having to click. This makes it *much* faster to
traverse the menu system without a lot of clicks. I am not asking to change
the current system only to add an option.

Hopefully this is clear. If not, can you tell me how to get a screen show of
the menu items?
