Summary: Restoration of non-KDE-4 applications fails (restore
                    session)
           Product: kde
           Version: 4.2.2
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: debian at carbon-project.org

Version: 4.2.2 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

After upgrade to KDE 4.2 session restoration after a relogin is broken.
Non-KDE-4 programs won't be started again.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a non-KDE-4 program like Amarok 1.4, Iceweasel (Firefox) or KVIrc
(3.4.0).
2. Log out.
3. Log in again.
4. Observe, that no non-KDE-4 program gets started again.

Funnily in ~/.kde/share/config/session/kwin_[HASH]_... programs like Iceweasel
are mentioned (wmCommand[0-9]). KVIrc has actually its own file, but reports
»NumberOfWindows=0«, so that might be a bad example anyway. Amarok doesn't get
mentioned anywhere.

Manually saving the session with
$ dbus-send --dest=org.kde.ksmserver /KSMServer
org.kde.KSMServerInterface.saveCurrentSession
doesn't produce a different result.

If you should need further information, feel free to ask and I'll be glad to
provide it.

I've asked on #kde4-devel whether this is (probably) one bug in KDE4's session
management or many in the different applications, but didn't get any answer. So
if it's more than one bug, please clone and/or reassign it as appropriate.

Thank you in advance for looking into this!

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch
