Summary: keyboard layout only applies to new started
                    application
           Product: systemsettings
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: jonathan.schluessler at gmx.de

Version: (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

When I add a new keyboard layout to my list of used keyboard layouts I cannot
immediately choose them in currently running applications. If I select the
newly added layout one of the layouts which have been added before is active
though the flag and name in the system tray point to the newly added layout.

If I start a new program I can select all added keyboard layouts which have
been added to the list before I started the program.

My biggest problem with this bug is, that plasma seems to get started before
the list of layouts is applied to a newly started kde session. So everything
with plasma uses the standard qwerty layout though none of my two used layouts
is qwerty. Things where I cannot use the selectad keyboard layout include
widgets like notes, preference windows of widgets and the add widget dialog.
If plasma crashes or if I restart it, the Layout Switcher choice also gets
applied to plasma components.

I'm running Arch Linux and have just updated to KDE 4.2.1.
I have this behavior for 2 weeks or so and I don't really now which update
caused this Bug. It might be the xf86-input-keyboard and xkeyboard-config. I've
updated these packages on the 16th of February.
