(In reply to comment #83)
That is not an accurate summary. For example, in my bug report (which was
originally bug 193083 and then marked as duplicate of this one) I have not
mentioned anything about Alt+Click being able to solve the problem -- in fact I
just tried and can confirm that Alt+Click does not have that effect.

Furthermore, some of the people above reported that they are unable to get the
keyboard to work at all (without at least restarting X) while others (like
myself) have found various methods to release the keyboard lock, e.g. using
mouse clicks. This may indicate that the cause of the various problems is
actually quite different in each case; and indeed many of them have been
reported in separate bug reports anyway, which were then merged with this one.
Therefore, by closing it and declaring it a duplicate of some over-simplified
"summary bug", you would effectively get rid of all the individual bug reports
-- without ever having solved them.

A few things that would be more helpful include:

a) to systematically try to reproduce any of the bugs reported above by
following the problem descriptions very carefully. E.g. has anybody tried to
run the Japanese input method in parallel, which may be one way to trigger the
bug?

b) if all fails, to give us some pointers to code that may be involved in the
problem cause. E.g. somebody mentioned a possible race condition in Kwin --
what exact code would that be? Can I get access to that and is there a basic
description of that code, so I could start to do some debugging myself? Or can
more verbose debug messages be enabled somewhere?
