Currently there is no at all serious visual feedback on switch -- there is icon
in the systray, but if entire panel is not visible (not that rare) user has no
clue which layout is active (or if it was switched by accident).

So please add option to display OSD info (like):
[ru] russian

where [ru] is russian flag. So when user switch layout she/he would see for
sure what the layout is. And at that point it would make sense to add keyboard
shortcut not for switch (there is already such shortcut) but for show this OSD
only (w/o switch). Reason -- after getting back to computer to ensure what
layout is active.
