I have upgraded my system (from Fedora 9/KDE 4.2.2) to Fedora 11/KDE 4.2.4 and
since then the problem did not occur. So I haven't tried the trunk version yet,
and if that isn't backported perhaps other people want to consider a system
upgrade too -- at least those people that reported a problem similar to mine.
