Summary: support for relevant volume control with multiple
                    soundcards
           Product: kde
           Version: 4.2.4
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: anish.7 at gmail.com

Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc 4.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

I use a pair of external USB speakers which show up as a seperate sound card.My
media keys(mute/vol +-) are set to control the master channel on my comp
soundcard. These are set as global shortcuts. The speakers also have media keys
on them,

When I connect the external speakers, phonon correctly switches to the
soundcard in the external speaker. However, the media keys are still
controlling the onboard soundcard channels. THe media keys on the speakers
return the same key codes as the regular media keys, rendering them useless to
control the external speakers. The media keys are now controlling the onboard
soundcard, while the soundcard in use is the one shown by the speakers.

There should be a way to switch key profiles such that the global shortcuts are
remapped to the currently selected soundcard, rather than having to switch
manually everytime. Possibly, preference levels for key profiles similar to how
soundcards currently have precedence in kde.
