Just tested, pressing a key for longer time doesn't help anything here, but as
said above resizing the current focussed window (_not_ with the restore button
in the title bar, but with the side border). After resizing just a few pixels
keyboard is back working.

(I don't know if it's related to that bug, but after the keyboard stops working
for the first time ctrl-meta (show mouse pointer) doesn't work anymore)
