I'm using the default Oxygen icon theme and the binary rpms and source rpms
have the same icons.
The user is led to believe that both are rpm packages and both can be
installed. However, since they are actually different types (one is installable
and one just unpacks into /usr/src/...), it's really confusing to them.
Making the source rpm icon a bit different would certainly help.
