the problem wasn't exactly due to gcc 4.4:

the error message indicated that the stdio header file was not included

#include <stdio.h>

in the following files:
src/estraierindexer/estraierindexmanager.cpp
src/estraierindexer/estraierindexreader.cpp

because the ebuild is fetching from
svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/kdesupport/strigi I thought it belonged to
kde ...

reported upstream and fixed with adding the entries to those 2 files
