I agree that there must be an option to "Never close" somewhere but I think the
default behaviour should be to autoclose the dialog when the user is logging
out. 
I've been using KDE for a lot time, since the KDE 3.0 days and applications
crashing on exit is almost normal in KDE. It is inevitable and if you have a
KDE installation for enough time there's a 99% of possibilities to have at
least an application crashing on exit constantly (be it Kontact, Kopete,
Klipper, whatever) which makes unattended logout impossible.
