Summary: kde screen goes black any time I move the mouse or I
                    press the keyboard
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: jcd at tribudubois.net

Version: (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

My system was working OK with KDE 3.5 (Kubuntu 8.04). It is not a very
powerfull system but I think it should be good enough compared to the various
netbook out there.

Ever since I upgraded the system to KDE 4.1.3 (kubuntu 8.10) the system is
unusable under KDE. Any time I type something or I move the mouse the sytem
goes black. It will then go back to the "normal" display until I type somthing
again in which case it goes black again. There is no crash the system is
running kind of OK but is is unusable as the display disappear (goes black) any
time I try to interact with the system.

Note that I a getting the same bahavior with the kubuntu live CD so it should
not be something with my KDE desktop configuration.

One additional data point is that the system CPU is not overloaded (top show
the system load around 1 to 5%)

Also KDE applications (kontact, konqueror, ...) are running mostly fine
(without spurious black screen) under another environement like XFCE for
example.

I am typing this report under KDE at the moment and it is very painfull ...

If you need any more data on my system, please ask ...
