this information is not to collect personal info for your employer, but to make it easier to use. most people actually like this feature, actually.

in the panel, you can turn it off completely and the data is all in your home directory under `kde-config4 --localprefix`/share/config (e.g. ~/.kde/share/config)

there is a control panel that will also wipe out pretty much all of this stored information on request.

in any case, the reason this hasn't yet been a cause for concern is that it isn't concerning. it's not a personal information leak and the data is not hidden.

exposing where these things are stored directly in the main user interface would actually be *less* useful for the vast majority of people as it would just clutter up the interface and present them with access to configuration files they probably don't understand or know how to safely edit.
