<p>By selecting the option, "Use angular association lines" in the Umbrello Settings->Configure Umbrello UML Modeller->General Settings, I was mostly able to mostly solve my problem.</p>

<p>The only remaining issue is the white space that surrounds the top and right of my template classes.  The association arrows look a little awkward stopping at this white space.</p>
