After a lot of work, i.e. trying to use emerge, using the custom installer and linking directly into 2 operating systems and 2 versions of R i.e. 13. and 14 with the customer installer as well as looking around for path violations which weren't apparent I've apparently diagnosed my problem this particular machine has a slightly corrupt w7<div>
operating system which is why the backend doesn't properly install. To find out exactly where the problem is I would have to run rkward under the debugger after properly</div><div>compiled on this system which would be a job. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I ran sfc /scannow which is the windows diagnostic repair utility and it died right away. I also noticed that this system has minor differences with the other. i.e. A anti-virus scan window AVG didn't display on this machine. I probably need to do an in place upgrade to this machine and see if it fixes the problem. Could easily be due to the fact I salvaged this machine from a hard disk problem not so long ago. If there is an easy way to track down this crash it would be very useful for me. Otherwise I probbably am stuck with a system inplace install. Its dual boot anyway and except for failing plugin tests on linux, it appears to work fine there.</div>
