<li class="remarkup-list-item">consistency - there are no shadows in QWidgets' inline messages</li>
<li class="remarkup-list-item">visual hierarchy - shadows add depth, making the message seem like it</li>

<p>is floating over the window's conten and thereby also making the message<br />
seem fairly prominent</p>
