What kind of bogus argument is "a"? Sure, adding stuff to the tray should be done as little as possible to prevent "tray bloat" but now that we have a rocking search plasmoid it would certainly be worth getting that in the tray. I would consider searching - specially if the results are good - a vital part of the desktop. Not adding this would imho be a big mistake in the direction of plasma. This is what KDE needs in the search area which we where missing quite badly.
Your point b really just strikes me as a pointless argument.
"a changed panel may make plasma look "evil" again" ... Really? So a good search plasmoid is going to be considered evil? If we're going that route.. I would consider the notification icon (in kde 4, i haven't tried plasma next enough to say something about it there) to be very evil. "I" hardly ever find any of the notifications in there close to useful. With the exception of copying files.
I hope the plasma folks could reconsider this. IMHO it would be a missed opportunity if it wasn't included.</pre>
