Would it make sense to add another heading under the "Desktop" dialog? Right now I see Deskopt Effects, Mulitiple Desktops, Screen Saver, and Launch Feedback. How about adding something for the ZUI?<br><br>If not, what about adding a new section under the "Look & Feel" heading?<br>

the possibilities are numerous:<br>

* re-use the wallpaper plugins, and use them to paint the background of the<br>
view<br>

* colourize the checkerboard<br>
<br>
* allow the user to define a pixmap to use as a tiling pattern (this is what<br>
the checkerboard is, btw)<br>
<br>
none of these are overly difficult to code. the question is all about the<br>
impact on the user experience when it comes to configuring it.<br>

i don't think putting this in the Appearances Settings dialog is good: it<br>
isn't the right context (putting the Plasma theme there is already pushing it<br>
too far imho) and that dialog is already overly complex.<br>
<br>
there's a "need" for global plasma settings, perhaps. theme, colours, etc.<br>
perhaps that is what belongs in system settings and could be offered via the<br>
checkerboard background when zoomed out as well.<br>
