this patch removes the need for a "size" config entry in a less ugly way by<br>
reading the geometry and location instead.<br>
there is some ugliness in the diff because I pulled some code out into its own<br>
function, which changed its indentation level.<br>
I can't find any bugs, although I'd like it if someone with multiple screens<br>
tested it.<br>
if it's good, can someone do whatever minor cleanup may be needed, then commit<br>
and backport? I'm not sure I'll be online again before 4.0.2 is tagged.<br>
