the two things aren't opposed to each other.

it's easy to hack something in.
it's very little more effort to do it right.

but it seems to be a very big effort to hack something in and *then* do it 
right later.

it's always great when something is actually done right, making it more usable 
today, instead of taking the simpmle route and selling out our future.

so it's probably a good idea to leave behind the rhetoric and instead try and 
do things right.
