All I can say is: make sure that the permissions are correct. There is also a new setup script for your use case in the making, but I do not know if it is ready to be released. If you would like to try it, ask for it on the ML, or maybe someone will already point you to it if he follows this thread.<br>

You should be able to install ownCloud just fine on any hosted php envirenment that is up to date (godaddy is fine). Even webdav is implemented in PHP which is why ownCloud has no special dependency on a dav webserver module.<br />
