I'm currently working on sharing files for Google Summer of Code. It will allow you to share files with other users and groups and set permissions for the files you share. There is already files_publiclink, which allows you to make a file public for download. <br>

Hi,<br>
<br>
I just discovered OwnCloud a few day back and I am interested. One
important point (for me) which is not evoked at all in your vision
is the sharing part of the project. It seems that at the moment the
sharing does not work (at least on the version/plateform I tried)
but it was in the kde slides I have seen. Perhaps adding a few work
on sharing would be good? (like<div class="im"><br>
"""<br>
It also provides a platform to easily sync your contacts, calendars
<br></div>
and bookmarks across all your devices, *share your files* and gives
you basic editing features <br>
right on the web<br>
""")<br>
I also wanted to ask what was the status of sharing features, if
someone worked on it and if it would be easy for a good programmer
without php experience to contribute to this part of the project.
Personnaly I only need to share file/directory readwrite/readonly
with selected user/everyone.<br>
Lastly, do you know a free hosting site on which I can install
owncloud? I am trying on mine, but some severe limitation (like no
set_include_path) of the host require that I make change to the code
and it is taking time.<br>
<br>
Regards,<br>
