very poor rendered fonts

SUMMARY
Rendered fonts from a PDF look terrible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open a PDF

OBSERVED RESULT
Observe that the fonts look very bad (see attached screenshot)

EXPECTED RESULT
Expected to see smooth curves without jagged transitions.
Other fonts on my machine render very nicely

Linux/KDE Plasma: GNOME, Ubuntu 22.10
