Extracting fonts

It does, for what I wanted initially, as it indeed works

But I often use Okular, and I’m curious generally about features… what is 
that feature “extract font” for, if it doesn’t provide a font most easily 
useful to users… I tried to open the “T1” fonts, renaming them accordingly 
to .pfb, with fontforge, but fontforge says they’re empty… I don’t 
understand why… what is that feature for if it can’t be used?
