I've just updated to 0.14.3 from 0.13.5 and I also observe this now. Note that
I need to set the view mode to "Facing Pages" to reproduce this. The whitespace
is always only trimmed on one of the two pages. This problem did not exist with
the old version, so it was probably caused by the changes to the Facing Pages
view in 0.14.
