I can't reproduce this in 4.8.90.
What I tried is:

1. Open an ePub in Okular
2. Select text

Works fine for me.

Could you try if your problem still exists in 4.8.90? If yes, please provide
some more detailed information about how to reproduce the bug. Maybe also
include a screen shot. It's not all that clear what exact problem you are
facing.
