There used to be a bug in the multimedia package, but that has been fixed
recently:

Even the fixed package uses a different way to trigger the autostart when
compiling with pdflatex than with latex+...  and that different way is not
supported by Okular (yet): https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=300051
