Hi,

Actually we are using SRTM for the Atlas map already. 

However currently Marble is rendering stuff in software which doesn't allow 
for 3D flights. 
Bernhard Beschow is working on an OpenGL view for Marble which will surely use 
SRTM data as the digital elevation model.
