Hi,

A few months ago I played with the Windows version of pyKst. I was able to get it working with some some minor changes and discussed them with Barth. I don't know if anything became of them, since my quick work around didn't work properly in Linux.

Unfortunately, what I really needed was also to be able to make changes to KST2's menus so that students only had one application to deal with, even if other applications were running behind the scenes. (For now we are using a separate pyQt based GUI - so we may be able to combine it with KST in the future - and we are telling KST what to display by generating kst files instead of using the Python interface, for now :-)

Kevin Burr.

On Sun, Nov 23, 2014 at 4:20 PM, Nicolas Brisset <nicolas.brisset@free.fr> wrote:

Hi Barth,
I tested the python bindings a bit under Linux and it seems to work rather fine. I only launched a few demos and generated the docs to have a rough idea.
First comments:
- The button.py script hangs when closing Kst (other's don't)
- I haven't yet found the nicest way to generate the docs, I generated a single html file but it's not ideal => suggestions welcome
- It seems that possibilities are interesting, especially as you can not only trigger things, but even extend the app
- If there is no conditional compile left, we should update the cmake scripts (@Peter: can you handle it?)

I still have to test more, but it looks very promising :-)

Prompted by that success, I tried it under Windows. There it did not work as well. import pykst works, but creating the client crashes python while launching kst2 from the same command prompt works.
Is there anything I should know? Has someone already tried this?
