It also makes it annoying to watch movies when you're online on Jabber, since
you have popups over the movie once in a while, sometimes over the subtitles,
which is pretty annoying. Also, if Kopete blocks, the popup is uncloseable
until it unblocks (which is the case on my machine). I have found a way to
disable all other popups (I can't fathom how one would consider popup for
anything by default a good idea, let alone *everything*).

But that's not what's most annoying:
1. It loses messages. If you have typed 500 character messages, and press enter
to send it, it sometimes happens to trigger a disconnect, which loses the
message – it's not saved anywhere, it completely goes away, and I have to type
again.
2. It litters the chat window history with connect-disconnect messages, so if
you have friends using Kopete, the chat window history of slow chats becomes
unusable. 
3. It plays bad with the statistics plugin – Kopete blocks for 10 seconds on
Jabber disconnect for me, until it writes the statistics for the contacts,
because going offline means it should write something, you know.
