I have the same Problem using Kopete 0.70.0 and KDE 4.2.1 on Kubuntu 8.10.
The jabber-server is OpenFire 3.5.2

I can connect, I see the other users on the roster and if I send e message
everything seems ok - but the message never reaches the recepient.
However, if I go offline and online, and sending the message again, the message
do reach the recepient!
