Hi, an OTR plug-in for Kopete does exist for those who are looking for that encryption type:

Kubuntu users can get it for KDE 3.x and KDE 4 via the repositories 

sudo apt-get install kopete-otr 

or for KDE 4:

sudo apt-get install kopete-plugin-otr-kde4

I have been using the plug-in on Kubuntu with KDE 3.x for many months now and it's excellent.
