I think I can reproduce this bug with KDE 4.0.99. I am not really sure what the
reporter means though. I have attached a screenshot. The contact shown with the
red arrow is using an avatar from my kaddressbook and the avatar is shown
smaller in a wrong-sized square (compared to all the other avatars). I am not
really sure though if this is a bug or the expected behaviour, besides it isn't
annoying for me.
