            Bug ID: 425764
Summary: Konsole reports $TERM=xterm-256color but doesn't fully
                    support it (tested with vis)
           Product: konsole
           Version: 20.08.0
          Platform: Debian testing
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: emulation
          Assignee: konsole-devel at kde.org
          Reporter: hyiltiz at gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

The following bug was reported for `vis` editor, but the `vis` devs pointed out
it is probably an issue with Konsole's support to `xterm-256color` rather than
`vis`. Given almost every term I tested (as shown below) didn't have an issue
but only Konsole did, I'd report it here. This issue has been there at least
since Feb, 2020. My current Konsole version that still shows the issue:
`konsole 20.08.0`.

> The background color was green in `vis v0.5 Jan 14, 2017 (shipped with Debian testing)` in `Konsole 19.08.1` where `echo $TERM` produced `xterm-256color`.

> - About `xterm-256color`: Calling `TERM='xterm-256color' vis` in `xfce4-term`, `alacritty`, `kitty`, `xterm`, `tmux`, `screen` worked without issues.
> - About `konsole`: Calling `TERM='xterm' vis`, `TERM='xterm-16color' vis`, `TERM='screen-256color' vis` in `Konsole` fixed the blue background.
