I agree with comment #83. Why can't konsole just remember what the line was
like, just like xterm did? Neither filling up a line with spaces, nor removing
all trailing spaces is ok. What we want is just remember the state "as is", and
neither strip nor add to it.

Actually, it seems that in some cases, konsole manages to do it just right.

However, another annoyance is that there is no visual feedback as to the state
of the line while selecting.

In xterm, if you move the mouse beyond the last character of a line while
selecting, it shows black color til the right screen edge.

Konsole, on the other hand, only shows black until mouse position, even if
mouse is already past the last character, just as if there were spaces there.
