Thomas,

I'm not sure it matters, but Which version are you using?

When you add a new security to an account, and you provide
            the symbol
of an already existing security, it should ask if you want
            to reuse the
existing security or create a new one. Have you just missed
            noticing
that question/checkbox? Perhaps it could be made more
            prominent, but
it should be there.

I may be answering the wrong question, in which case your question
will need to be more detailed.

What may work (on a backup file, in case), is to edit one security
to have temporarily a different symbol. Then edit the other one
to have that same symbol. All being well, you'll get the question
asking if you want to use the existing stock. If so, that should
result in them all being grouped together, so then edit the symbol
      back to its original.
