Christian, I'll give the kde3 version a try. I'm not great with source
files so I wonder if there is a link to a .deb somewhere. Couple of
points:<br>

Will I need to uninstall version 4.5.3 before installing the earlier version and<br>
I read somewhere (can't remember where) that if I delete a payee it
deletes all transactions with that payee. Is that correct please and, if
so, do I need to do anything to avoid it?<br>

I think that your problem is the same as this bug reported here [1].<br>
AFAIK there is no workaround this issue so we should fix it as soon as<br>
possible. You could try cleaning up your payees with the KDE3 version<br>
of kmymoney (which should behave OK in that area).<br>
