Having been bitten a couple of times when an update involving an update
of KDE went badly wrong, I no longer attempt it, except as part of a
change to openSuse.

At the moment, I am using Mint and yesterday was presented with an
update of KDE from 4.6.2 to 4.6.5, involving over 100 packages. It
appears to have gone faultlessly, so far.
