Please do so. I guess Qt Designer chooses whatever is the default in your system.
It's not unusual for graphic UI designer to screw up files from time to time. But I'm just an old-fashioned dev who still edits HTML in a plain-text editor. :)
Looking in this particular ui file in edit mode, as against Designer,
there are references to both Sans and Ubuntu. Is it valid to leave
'font-family' empty? Or, should I replace all Ubuntu references with Sans?
There appears to be no way in QtDesigner to not select any font - one has to choose from a drop-down.

So, in this particular file, I have edited out all mentions of any font family - the field is empty. The plugin still compiles successfully, and runs as normal, at least here.

Strangely, when now viewing the file in QtDesigner again, the font family again shows as Ubuntu. Here, this would seem to be the default setting when viewed in Designer. It is not what exists in the file, but only what would be used if that field gets edited. Having now looked at all the ui files in a text editor, and contrary to what I said earlier, there are no further references to a Ubuntu font. The only references still present refer to either Sans or Sans Serif, probably from initial design under openSuse. Ubuntu only seems to get in when a text field is edited and no change of font is selected, whereupon the apparently Mint/Ubuntu default of 'Ubuntu' is used.

So, to comply with your suggestion "Please verify the ui files don't set a particular font", any ui designed in QtDesigner will have to be hand edited on completion, but whether it achieves anything, I don't know. It would seem to be a good idea though, not to choose to use a distro-specific one.

So far, I have edited just this one file, and the eight remaining don't refer to Ubuntu. Are you happy for me to just commit the change to this one file?
Hi,

CSV plugin in git/master now uses Ubuntu font instead of Sans
Serif [1].
Is this intentional?

It is worth to note, that in Kubuntu Sans Serif is automatically
substituted by "Ubuntu" (which, by the way, has significant
troubles
with non-Latin fonts [2]), other OS (non-Ubuntu distributions,
Windows,
Mac) do not use "Ubuntu" at all.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
I must confess I'm a bit puzzled now. Looking elsewhere in this
version, all fonts are Ubuntu, and in fact, looking further back, to
4.6.1, Ubuntu font seems to be the default used everywhere.
Strangely, the 'Group' for the two there present .ui files is
'users', which I would have thought came from when I was running
openSuse.

So, this discrepancy appears to have come to light because an
apparently innocuous text change seems to be reverting a change,
from Sans Serif family to Ubuntu. Why Sans Serif came to be in
there, I have no idea.

So, now I don't really know what I need to do, as, all fonts
throughout are Ubuntu, and it would seem no one has had any issue
with the fonts, and the reported problem, I think, relates to root
usage.

I'm open to guidance here.
