<div dir="ltr"><div>Hi,</div><div><br></div><div>First, Carsten's ideas for Kiki with Krita tools are really nice, especially the first three, and especially the filter layer.</div><div><br></div><div>Second, I think it would be a good idea to think about how we're gonna use them. I'm assuming it's something that would accompany news or parts on the website etc? Because from Tyson's mail it seems like he wants to use them for other things, not splash screens, but other promotional materials?<br><br></div><div>Something like for example we already got from David Revoy for donations, Kiki with a Piggy Bank: <a href="https://krita.org/images/pages/2021-11-16_kiki-piggy-bank_krita5.png">https://krita.org/images/pages/2021-11-16_kiki-piggy-bank_krita5.png</a> (which is awesome and I think it probably really helps there: <a href="https://krita.org/en/donations/">https://krita.org/en/donations/</a> and in post-download: <a href="https://krita.org/ga/post-download/">https://krita.org/ga/post-download/</a>) (it's also used on some of the news posts next to the "Donate text").</div><div>There was also an April's Fools joke post by David with Kiki making faces: <a href="https://www.davidrevoy.com/article1071/introducing-a-new-krita-plugin-kiki-ultimate-digital-painting-companion">https://www.davidrevoy.com/article1071/introducing-a-new-krita-plugin-kiki-ultimate-digital-painting-companion</a></div><div>There is also a similar thing but with Carrot instead of Kiki because David made it for his blog: <a href="https://docs.krita.org/en/untranslatable_pages/building/building_krita_on_host_linux_system.html#building-krita-on-host-linux-system">https://docs.krita.org/en/untranslatable_pages/building/building_krita_on_host_linux_system.html#building-krita-on-host-linux-system</a> (<a href="https://www.davidrevoy.com/article193/compile-krita-from-source-code-on-linux-for-cats">https://www.davidrevoy.com/article193/compile-krita-from-source-code-on-linux-for-cats</a>)</div><div><br></div><div>Is that the kind of thing that Tyson is thinking of?<br></div><div><br></div><div>My ideas:</div><div>- Kiki with a newspaper (for news)</div><div>- Kiki with a megaphone (announcements?)</div><div>- Kiki and fireworks or confetti (for successes, new releases etc.)</div><div>- Maybe something representing FOSS? There is this delightful picture: <a href="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/2023-02-14_Kiki-loves-free-software_by-David-Revoy.jpg">https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/2023-02-14_Kiki-loves-free-software_by-David-Revoy.jpg</a> and there are some pictures of Kiki with friends: <a href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOx6CoyWAAAUclL.jpg">https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOx6CoyWAAAUclL.jpg</a> or <a href="https://www.deviantart.com/goshaag/art/Sad-Libbie-715399236">https://www.deviantart.com/goshaag/art/Sad-Libbie-715399236</a> but maybe we could have a picture that shows the idea of FOSS? I don't really have a good idea for it - the only ideas I have are for a bigger sketch or illustration. <br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Btw do we have a new splash screen for 5.3.0 / 6.0.0?<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>---<br></div><div><br></div><div>Side note: it would probably be good if we made it a rule to use the Kiki Piggy Bank or a similar picture (I wouldn't mind having a variety of them) for *every* Monthly Update and a new Released or Release Notes post to accompany a good call to action to donate to Krita. <br></div><div>I think making it into a nice <br></div><div><br></div><div>----</div><div><br></div><div>Best regards, </div><div>Tiar<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">śr., 4 lut 2026 o 13:37 Drawpile <<a href="mailto:drawpile@pm.me">drawpile@pm.me</a>> napisał(a):<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">There's a lot of toolage in Krita that has some "physicality" to it I think, so my idea would be theming the pictures around that. Like, a brush, a paint bucket, a layer stack etc. are all things that you can make Kiki interact with as if they were physical objects and users are likely to make the connection to both Krita and themselves using it right away.<br>
