Subtitles for your videos

Hello Again!

Talking about videos, and as an attempt to make KDE videos accessible to more
people, we have started including subtitles/closed captions into our new
videos.

We now have a nice workflow and most of our new videos come with subtitles in
English.

Johnny Jazeix from the GCompris team is expanding this workflow so the
translation team is involved, and we are at the stage in which posting new
languages is more or less automatic. The original creator of the video uploads
a SRT (subtitle formatted file) in English to a folder on invent.kde.org along
with a short configuration file, and translators translate it into different
languages that gradually get uploaded to both YouTube and PeerTube.

The whole process, from when the SRT is uploaded, to when different language
subtitles start to appear on the video platforms, can take several days, as
different translation teams work in different timezones and work at different
rates. But the point is it works, and you can now see videos that use the
system on both platforms:

This, we think, would be great asset for Krita, allowing you to reach even
more people, and, therefore, we would like to invite you to participate in the
project.

Let us know what you think.

Cheers

Paul
